Selfie

How many more picture of yourself

do you need to take

before you lose your identity

and turn into a fake.

You use filters to narrow

the width of your hips

and pretend to have fillers

every time you pout your lips.

Once you think you look beautiful

you share your photo online

so everyone may think

you are living your life by design.

But they never see you

wait for the likes and comments

as a feeling of emptiness

inside gradually ferments.

The only friends you have

you have never met

for the only place you interact

is on the internet.

This person you have invented

only exists in cyberspace

while the real you checks the mirror

for the new wrinkles on your face.
