Big Mouth

I hear myself speak

and then ask why I said that,

here we are sitting

having an innocent chat,

but I had to open my mouth

and drag up the past

and now I see by your face

I have left you aghast.

Me and my big mouth

have struck again

without warning but as

predictable as the rain.

It is like it does not know

what my brain is thinking

until it is too late

and another friendship is sinking.

I will soon be left

without any friends to talk too

unless before I open my mouth

I think what I am about to say through.
