The Books On My Shelf

Charity begins

at home they say,

so maybe I should go

easier on myself,

instead of thinking about

what I haven’t done

look at the books

I’ve written on my shelf.

Try to take pride in them

and stop worrying

what anyone else might think,

this achievement will stand

the test of time

forever immortalised in ink.

So when the dark days arrive

as they undoubtably will,

take consolation in the dreams

you were able to fulfil.
