Soundtrack

The songs on the radio

don’t make sense

to me anymore

and after a week

they can be found in the bin

of your local discount store.

They have no soul

and they all sound the same

all by people with

a manufactured name.

I still listen to the songs

I grew up on,

they still sound fresh even though

the artist may be long gone.

These song are the soundtrack

to our lives

and when I hear one

my spirit is instantly revived.

An important element

to my personal story,

the one consistent between

the calm and the furore.
