The night terrors
have returned
even after putting
into practice all the
lessons I have learned.
I am afraid to
close my eyes
in case everything
I was told turns out
to be nothing but lies.
The new day takes
an eternity to arrive
as I lie here trembling
not knowing whether
I will survive.
Sunlit eventually peers
through my curtain
and I can breathe easily
in the knowledge I will see
another day for certain.

Very evocative writing

Your poem speaks to me directly about the fear of death. If that’s your intention, you’re brave to write about it. Also, generous, because others feel this too.
