I Don’t Cry

I thought I knew you,

but I was obviously wrong,

you told me what I needed to hear

in order to string me along.

Then when you got

all you could from me

you said it wasn’t working

and you wanted to be free.

No consideration

for how I felt,

you just said that these were

the cards that we were dealt.

You moved onto

another fool

telling him lies

and using him like a tool.

I was left heartbroken

and down on my knees

where you lived life

doing whatever you pleased.

More years than I care to

remember have passed by

and the hurt you caused me

still lingers,

but at least now I don’t cry.
