Empty Chair

I turn to ask you something,

but you are not there,

alone in your place

is an empty chair.

For a brief moment

I had forgot

even though I thought

I could not.

You left without

giving any warning

on a warm and bright

summer’s morning.

You packed your bags

and left without a goodbye

before I even had

the time to ask why.

Left here alone

I now know the answer,

my moods had worn you down

like a malignant cancer.
