Walter Mitty

The dreams in my head

turn me into Walter Mitty

a man who has a very

important job in the city.

The decisions he makes

earn a lot of people money

and when he tells a joke

everyone finds it funny.

In reality I live

in a tiny apartment

and with every day that passes

I grow more disheartened.

Staring out my window

watching the world go by,

this is when Walter arrives

and teaches me to fly.

He takes me high

above the earth away

from my troubles

keeping me from harm

in an impenetrable bubble

where I can let

my imagination run wild,

shrieking with delight

as if still a child.

Every day I wait

for Walter to arrive

for that is the only time I feel alive.
