Rush Hour

Stuck in the grind of

the morning rush hour,

hair still wet from

an early shower.

Fingers tapping

on steering wheels

while women

in trainers carry their heels.

Buses belch out toxic fumes

as the spectre

of the working day looms.

Commuters with

their headphones on,

hands over

mouths to stifle yawns.

Coffee shops raise their shutters

while men in

yellow vests sweep the gutters.

A city slowly rises to its feet

as peace

turns to chaos on its streets.
