The Immigrant

Sullen faces with

broken bodies

marching to the lament

of their own threnody.

Their homes destroyed

and their families scattered,

the defeat of terrorism

was all that mattered.

History once again

has come full circle

devastating lands

that once were fertile.

Now these lost souls

have to find a new place

where they won’t be judged

because of their race.

But there is nowhere

that will open their arms

unless they are

prepared to

work for nothing

on a factory farm.

Born in the wrong place

at the wrong time,

to end up stateless

was their only crime.
