Gone

When I am gone,

will you think of the times

when we were twenty-one?

Our whole lives ahead

never imaging that we’d be dead.

When I am gone,

will you find someone

new to lean on?

to help you get along with life,

maybe even become his wife.

When I am gone,

will you rise before the dawn

at the start of the day

wiping a tear as you start to pray.

When I am gone,

will you search for my

name on amazon?

Finding my book

will you buy it for luck?

When I am gone,

will you be able to carry on?

knowing it was you

who broke my heart,

and that was your plan

right from the very start.
