A Proud Man

You were looking out the window

at the unemployment line

telling me not to worry

that everything would be fine.

Since the age of twelve

you had worked every day

and for many a time for very little pay.

 Now, aged fifty

and with six mouths to feed,

you find yourself in trouble

all because of one mans greed.

A proud man,

who never asked for a handout,

now feels ashamed

that he is in need of a bailout.

 You promised everyone

that you would

get back on your feet.

 I never doubted it,

for you were a man

who would never admit defeat.
